About Us

Nippon Kenpo is a full force Japanese marital art. The students of Nippon Kenpo wear traditional protective equipment called bogu. Bogu consists a chest protector (do), boxing gloves (kurobu), traditional facemask (men) and a groin protector (matate). Our students wear the equipment during both practice and competition. Children under the age of 15 are not required to wear the headgear. Although we are a part of Master Goki Kinuya’s particular line of tradition, all practitioners are recognized and appreciated. Today, our dojos strictly follow the traditions passed down to us through Master Muneomi Sawayama, and Master Goki Kinuya. We are a close-knit, family style run organization. We, (Board members, parents, students, friends, community) work very hard together, and take pride in being able to offer our students international competition and educational opportunities. By competing and attending cultural seminars oversees, our students learn a great deal of respect and understanding among all cultures.
We support our local communities through self-defense classes, demonstrations, parades, and community service. We function as one big family.
